Children’s Day, Book Day was imagined in 1996 by Pat Mora, and was celebrated for many years as El día de los niños, El día de los libros (Día) with enthusiastic support from Latinx librarians. As the celebrations grew, the initiative evolved into Children’s Day, Book Day, a year-long commitment to celebrating ALL our children and to motivating them and their families to be readers, essential in our democracy.
In the Children’s Day, Book Day Archives below, you can explore its history and advocacy and discover many ideas and resources for celebrating.
