Día celebrations in Broward County, Florida
Broward County children will enjoy some Día celebrations this week!

The North Lauderdale Saraniero Branch Library’s Children Reading Festival & Festival de Lectura para Niños & Festival Lekti Put Timoun will be a celebration of children, their languages and their cultures, with bilingual presenters and artists, interactive reading STEAM and art stations, guest readers, a children’s art exhibit, bilingual book displays and a book giveaway, featuring culturally appropriate books that represent the children and their cultures. Children from public and charter elementary and middle schools in the City of North Lauderdale will visit the library during the Día Festival to discover and make connections with diverse books. Each child will receive Día stickers and bookmarks, a Broward County Library “I am a BCL WOW Kid” bag, a library certificate and an application to obtain a library card.
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS)
BCPS expects to have over 20,000 children participating in dual language readings on Monday, April 25th. All elementary schools and targeted childcare centers will be receiving copies of Book Fiesta! to read. Lori Canning, Director of Early Learning/School Readiness, says: “Having events such as Día provides us the opportunity to come together around a common cause, the education, health, wellness, and happiness of our Broward Children.”
